OUR EARTH PAPER
Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust is an international charity working to save species from extinction. Headquartered at Jersey Zoo in the Channel Islands, Durrell focuses on the most threatened species in the most threatened places. Established by author and conservationist Gerald Durrell in 1959, Durrell’s overall aim is for more diverse, beautiful and resilient natural landscapes in which species can thrive and people can enjoy a deeper connection with nature. Their approach concentrates on the rewilding of animals, the rewilding of ecosystems and the rewilding of people.

Creating A Wilder, Healthier, More Colourful World
The international charity’s ‘Rewild our World’ strategy sets out four headline goals to achieve by 2025, when its founder, Gerald Durrell, would have celebrated his 100th birthday. Achieving the bold and ambitious targets outlined in Durrell’s new strategy will deliver significant change to the fortunes of some of the world’s most threatened wildlife.
In 2025 Durrell wants to see:
• 10 ecosystems across the world’s major biomes rewilded
• 100 threatened species on the road to recovery
• 500 endangered species projects working more effectively
• 1,000,000 people better connected with nature
The mill where it is produced has a story to tell too!
Our Earth Paper is produced by UPM in the EU using wood from sustainably managed forests. The UPM Kymi mill at which Our Earth Paper is produced is located along the River Kymi in Kouvola, South East Finland, and includes a pulp mill and a fine paper mill. The paper mill receives their heat and electricity from the integrated pulp mill, which generates renewable energy from biomass and pulp mill residues. The paper mill generates zero waste. The UPM mill plants over 50 million trees per year, that’s 100 trees every minute.
UPM has been listed as the leading forest and paper industry company in the in the Dow Jones European and World Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for the sixth time. And has an AAA rating from the Carbon Discloser Project for its efforts related to climate change, sustainable forestry and water use.
